HIGHLANDS NATURAL POOL
The historic and scenic Highlands Natural Poolis located adjacent to The New Weis Center and Norvin Green State Forest, in the Highlands Region of northern New Jersey. The Olympic size, mountain stream fed pool features a secluded wooded setting, separate deep and shallow ends, a snack bar, play area, tables with umbrellas, and a lovely perennial garden.
The pool was carved out of a rocky hillside in 1935-36 by members of the New York chapter of The Nature Friends organization, who owned what was then called Camp Midvale (later Weis Ecology Center, and then The New Weis Center). In 1997 the pool was sub-divided from what is now The New Weis Center property, and is now owned and operated by the a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit: The Community Association of the Highlands. Our two organizations may be run by different nonprofits, but we share a unique history and continue to collaborate and work together. For more on our two organizations' entwined history, visit our History page or stop in our mini-museum when you are onsite at our Center.
Unlike many area pools and lakes, the Highlands Natural Pool offers yearly memberships and day passes to ALL, wherever you live!
